One of the country’s biggest parades is gearing up for a wonderful kick-off on Thanksgiving.
Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is a New York City tradition, but millions tune in to watch the live broadcast, too. Be a part of the crowd cheering from the streets when you attend this big event!

The balloons this year will feature an array of favorite characters from cartoons, movies, books, and games.
Just a few that will be floating along the city streets include the Pillsbury Doughboy, Hello Kitty, Paddington Bear, Spongebob Squarepants, Pikachu, and Elf on the Shelf.
Plenty of celebrity guests, musicians, and performers join the parade every year, and 2016 is sure to be no different. Last year’s performers included Mariah Carey, Miss America, Daughtry, Cirque du Soleil, and Jordin Sparks.
The parade starts at 9 a.m. and makes its way along Central Park West, Central Park South, and 6th Avenue.
Avoid watching where the parade starts and ends – these spots have limited or restricted viewing.
The best spots to watch include farther down Central Park West, Columbus Circle, and 59th to 38th Streets. All of these offer great views.
For parade merchandise, Macy’s has a parade shop online. Head to the store after the parade (located at the end of the parade route) for more cool stuff like tote bags and posters.
For Thanksgiving Day in NYC, stay at a hotel that’s conveniently close to the city. The Wilshire Grand has an excellent location that’s perfect for heading into NYC and watching the parade, not to mention checking out the sights and attractions.
